NewEdo

NewEdo is a game for players who love the character creation and customization process. Set in a city where a thousand years of tradition have come into conflict with the rapid pace of modern life, NewEdo's core theme is change. In this world, belief defines reality in a very literal way. Monsters and magic exist, believed into existence by the population. Various factions seek to capitalize on this powerful tenet, aiming to sway popular belief and define the future of the Empire. Your characters will have an agenda in this conflict; between the past and the future, tradition and technology. Set at a series of inflection points, your stories will reshape the Empire and reinforce your Legend. 

Character creation in NewEdo is based on a hybrid Priority Buy process.  You choose your Lineage (physiology) and a Path (which gives your character a political motivation as well as loosely complementing a playstyle or role), then assign a degree of importance - a Priority - to each of your character's Backgrounds, Magic, Augmentations, Skills, and Core Traits.  These attributes will play a far greater role in how your character gets things done than their Lineage or Path.  The odds of you coming to the table with the same build as another player quickly approaches zero. 

With 8 Lineages and 21 Path options, you're bound to find a combo that suits your style.  After adding in your personal approach to the Priority Buy, your character is destined to be totally unique.  Of equal importance, NewEdo's mechanics encourage and reward creative gameplay decisions, using two core systems: your Legend, and the Fate Card.  Your character's Legend is their renown, their cred, and a fuel source for their incredible abilities.  The Fate Card is a completely new game mechanic that layers on the potential for random events to trigger during play - anything from spontaneous healing, to granting allies free actions, to setting cars on fire or skipping through time.  The Fate Card is NewEdo's ace in the hole, the tool that sets it apart from other Trait + Skill game systems. 

The PDF has a stylish and functional layout, including bookmarked chapter navigation, extensive internal hyperlinks, and a thorough index.  Game art, contributed by more than a dozen talented artists led by Damir Rukavina and Kate Kingston, is vibrant and exciting, evoking the setting's aspirational take on a neon-urban aesthetic. 

With a lively and positive Discord community that includes online play groups and active engagement by the developer, NewEdo is an approachable new TTRPG for anyone looking for a game with character depth, and is a change of pace from the angst and doom of conventional "-punk" style games.
